FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Buying or building a home is a big commitment, so we’ve put together an FAQ.

What do I need to get my site ready for an RTM or on-site custom build?
You’ll need to ensure the site is accessible, meaning an approach and driveway is in place so we can access the building site.

Unsure where to begin? We can take care of this for you! Once we have a site plan of where you want the build site located, we can clear the lot (including trees), put the culvert in, and build the driveway so work can begin.

We will also handle any permits required for placing the driveway.

How long does it take to build a home or cottage?
This can vary depending on the size and complexity of the project. On average, projects are completed within 4-5 months, however larger projects can take 6-8 months from start to finish.
Do you arrange transportation for the RTMs?
Yes, we handle the moving arrangements for the house, including permits. The total cost of transportation is included in your contract.
What are the customers’ responsibilities?
All you need to worry about is attending the scheduled selection meetings with us, sitting back and enjoying the process!

Additionally, you’ll need to arrange financing, however we can help with this as well!

What kind of warranty do you offer?
For 28 years, we have been members of the New Home Warranty Program of Manitoba which provides a 5-year structural warranty for our homes.

We also have a 1-year builders warranty; after a year of living in your home, we’ll return and repair any screw pops and ensure any needed adjustments are made. Plus, the products we choose for the build also include their own manufacturer’s warranty which we are here to assist you with.

How can I customize one of your standard models or design a custom home?
It all starts with your wish list! We’ll meet to discuss every idea you have for a new build, and help you design a home that covers as much of your list as possible. We’ll do our own drafting in-house and help you design a home that meets your needs, fits the building site, and of course – fits the budget!
Do I need to get a building permit?
We’ll handle all of the necessary permits required for a ‘turn-key’ build. If you’re purchasing the Ready-to-Move home from us and completing the sitework on your own, then you would be responsible to get the permits.
Are you a member of any Home Builders’ Associations?
Yes. We are members of the Manitoba Home Builders’ Associations and the Canadian Home Builders’ Association.
We are also COR™ – certified by the Construction Safety Association of Manitoba.
How do you ensure a quality home?
We use quality materials and highly skilled tradespeople to complete our projects. Our trade groups are consistent from project to project, ensuring we achieve the level of quality we expect for our customers.
Do you charge per square foot?
Just as no two clients are the same, no two projects are the same. As such, we don’t charge per square foot. We take time to understand the unique challenges that come with constructing the home you’re dreaming of, including the location and setting of your new house. From there, we do a true estimate of the costs based on the plan design, your desired specifications, and the location.
